Job Description
The Maintenance Group Leader oversees skilled trades employees within a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the General Motors Wentzville plant. This role is responsible for leading daily maintenance operations, supporting equipment reliability, driving safety initiatives, and ensuring operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop skilled trades employees to support safety, productivity, and performance goals
- Plan and direct daily maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance
- Conduct team meetings and communicate daily priorities and operational updates
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and plant safety standards
- Support hiring, training, employee development, and performance management activities
- Collaborate with plant leadership and production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability
- Monitor maintenance performance metrics, labor utilization, and operational trends to support continuous improvement
- Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and client expectations
Qualifications
- Requires at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance
- Requires 1-2 years of experience in a management role of union employees
- Must be able to work evenings
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to manage as part of a larger team or manage function independently, without direct supervision
- The ability to multi-task is a must
