Job Description

The Maintenance Group Leader oversees skilled trades employees within a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the General Motors Wentzville plant. This role is responsible for leading daily maintenance operations, supporting equipment reliability, driving safety initiatives, and ensuring operational efficiency. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop skilled trades employees to support safety, productivity, and performance goals
  • Plan and direct daily maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance
  • Conduct team meetings and communicate daily priorities and operational updates
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and plant safety standards
  • Support hiring, training, employee development, and performance management activities
  • Collaborate with plant leadership and production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics, labor utilization, and operational trends to support continuous improvement
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and client expectations

Qualifications

  • Requires at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance
  • Requires 1-2 years of experience in a management role of union employees
  • Must be able to work evenings 
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to manage as part of a larger team or manage function independently, without direct supervision
  • The ability to multi-task is a must
