Job Description
The Facilities Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of projects The candidate will be an important member of the team to ensure that the goals & deadlines of this area are achieved.
Job Responsibilities
- • Supervise and lead custodial staff assigned to night shifts across campus buildings
• Assign nightly work schedules and ensure tasks are completed according to established cleaning standards
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities to verify quality, safety, and compliance
• Provide hands-on support, coaching, and training to custodial staff as needed
• Address service requests, emergencies, and operational issues in a timely and professional manner
• Enforce university policies, safety procedures, and proper use of equipment and chemicals
• Maintain accurate shift reports, inspection logs, and incident documentation
• Communicate effectively with day supervisors and management regarding completed work and follow-up needs
• Monitor staffing levels, respond to call-outs, and assist with timekeeping accuracy
• Ensure secure access to facilities during overnight hours
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of custodial or facilities experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role preferred
• Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, equipment, and safety practices
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during overnight hours
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a university or large campus environment
• Familiarity with floor care, events, and specialized cleaning processes
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and operate custodial equipment
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
