Maintenance Worker (Facilities Maintenance) - Third Shift
Location: Houston, TX (Downtown Correctional Facility)
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Aramark is hiring a Maintenance Worker to support facility maintenance operations at a correctional facility in downtown Houston, Texas. In this hands-on maintenance technician role, you will complete daily work orders, perform basic building repairs, unclog toilets, replace light bulbs, install electrical outlets and plugs, and help keep the facility operating safely and efficiently. This is an entry-level maintenance position that is ideal for dependable candidates who enjoy working with their hands and are willing to learn building maintenance and repair skills. The schedule is a consistent third shift, working four 10-hour shifts from Wednesday through Saturday, 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and receive clearance to work inside a jail facility.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond to daily maintenance work orders throughout the facility.
- Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs.
- Unclog toilets, repair plumbing fixtures, and address basic maintenance issues as needed.
- Replace light bulbs, electrical plugs, outlets, and other basic electrical components.
- Repair or replace damaged fixtures, doors, hardware, office equipment, and facility components.
- Inspect assigned areas and identify maintenance needs before they become larger issues.
- Complete preventive maintenance checklists and required documentation.
- Safely use hand tools, ladders, and basic maintenance equipment.
- Follow all facility security procedures, safety rules, and PPE requirements.
- Work primarily indoors within a secure correctional facility environment.
- Assist with additional building maintenance tasks as operational needs arise.

Qualifications
Required
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain clearance to work inside a correctional facility.
- Ability to work the scheduled shift: Wednesday through Saturday, 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
- Ability to safely perform physical work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials throughout the shift.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and follow safety procedures.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to work independently.
Preferred
- 0-1 year of maintenance, facilities, building maintenance, custodial maintenance, handyman, grounds, or related experience.
- Experience completing minor plumbing, electrical, fixture, or general building repairs.
- Experience responding to maintenance work orders in a commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, hospitality, education, or correctional environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn new maintenance and facilities management skills.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
