Title:  On Site Gardener

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic On-Site Gardener to maintain and enhance the external landscaped areas of a prestigious city centre property. The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of courtyard gardens, balcony planting areas, vegetable plots, flower beds, shrubs, and the general external appearance of the building, ensuring all outdoor spaces remain attractive, healthy, and well-maintained throughout the year.

Grounds and Garden Maintenance

• Maintain all courtyard gardens, landscaped areas, and external green spaces.
• Water, prune, weed, cultivate, and care for all plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Monitor plant health and identify potential issues relating to pests, disease, or environmental factors.
• Replace seasonal planting as required to maintain vibrant displays.

Balcony and Terrace Maintenance

• Maintain flower boxes, pots, hanging baskets, and planted balcony areas.
• Ensure balcony planting schemes are kept tidy, healthy, and visually appealing.
• Carry out regular watering and feeding programmes.

Vegetable Plot Care

• Manage and maintain on-site vegetable and herb gardens.
• Prepare planting areas, sow seeds, cultivate crops, and harvest produce where applicable.
• Promote sustainable gardening practices and seasonal planting schedules.

External Building Presentation

• Ensure all external areas surrounding the building are maintained to a high standard.
• Remove weeds, litter, and garden debris from outdoor spaces.
• Keep pathways, seating areas, and communal outdoor areas clean, safe, and presentable.
• Support seasonal garden projects and landscape improvements.

Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Operate gardening tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
• Adhere to all Aramark health and safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain safe storage of equipment, tools, fertilisers, and gardening materials.
• Support Aramark's sustainability and environmental initiatives.

Experience and Skills Required

Essential

• Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
• Knowledge of plant care, pruning techniques, and seasonal gardening requirements.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily gardening activities.
• Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
• Physically fit and capable of carrying out outdoor manual work in varying weather conditions.

Desirable

• Horticultural qualification or relevant gardening certification.
• Experience maintaining vegetable gardens and urban planting schemes.
• Knowledge of sustainable gardening practices and biodiversity initiatives.
• Full clean driving licence.
