Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Bakes and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, etc. 
  • Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, mixers, etc.
  • Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
  • Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
  • Ensures security of company assets
  • Lead the development of high-end, innovative pastry concepts for a variety of campus-wide events and daily service operations.
  • Uphold the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation across all pastry offerings.
  • Mentor and inspire a skilled pastry team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive chefs, catering managers, and event planners to deliver customized, show-stopping dessert experiences.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and seasonal ingredients to introduce fresh, cutting-edge menus that delight diverse audiences.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and university policies.
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and cost control while maintaining a focus on sustainability and local sourcing

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a baker or in a related role preferred
  • Proven knowledge of baking methods, standards, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Required to obtain food safety certification(s)
  • Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive pastry experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or executive role.
  • Formal training from an accredited culinary or pastry arts program preferred.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating artistic flair, technical mastery, and innovative design.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Experience in university or hospitality-driven foodservice operations a plus.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
