Job Description
The Catering Cold Sous Chef is responsible for overseeing all cold food production for catered events, including but not limited to salads, hors d’oeuvres, cold appetizers, displays, desserts, and specialty cold presentations. This role supports the Catering Chef in daily culinary operations, staff supervision, food quality, safety, and execution of events to ensure a high level of presentation, consistency, and guest satisfaction.
The Catering Cold Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in preparing high-volume, high-quality catering events while maintaining food safety standards, cost controls, and operational efficiency.
Compensation Data
COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $25.00 to $32.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities
Culinary Production

Plan and execute all cold menu items for catered events

Ensure quality, consistency, and presentation standards

Follow BEOs and event specifications
-
Assist with menu development as needed
Leadership
-
Supervise and train cold production staff
-
Ensure adequate staffing for events
-
Maintain a professional, team-focused kitchen environment
Food Safety & Compliance
-
Maintain HACCP and sanitation standards
-
Ensure proper labeling, storage, and temperature control
-
Complete required logs and follow company, union (if applicable), and campus policies
Inventory & Cost Control

Assist with ordering and inventory management
-
Follow recipes and portion controls
-
Minimize waste and support cost initiatives
Event Support

Collaborate with Catering Managers and Culinary Leadership

Assist with event setup and execution
-
Adapt to high-volume and last-minute changes
Qualifications
Required:
-
Culinary degree or equivalent experience
-
2–4 years culinary experience (catering or high-volume preferred)

Strong cold food preparation skills
-
Knowledge of food safety standards
-
Supervisory and time management skills
Preferred:
-
Sous chef or lead cook experience
-
Higher education or large-scale catering experience

ServSafe Certification
Physical Requirements:

Stand for extended periods

Lift up to 50 lbs

Work in refrigerated environments

Flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays)
