Aramark Facilities is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to support operations across four charter school campuses in the Syracuse, New York area. This role is responsible for performing a wide range of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure each facility remains safe, functional, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

 

This position requires a hands-on technician who can operate independently across multiple sites while also providing informal leadership and support to custodial teams when needed. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general maintenance, takes ownership of their work, and can manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.

 

Due to the multi-site nature of this role, strong organization, time management, and reliability are critical.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $22.00 to $25.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Support daily maintenance operations across multiple school campuses, ensuring facilities remain operational, safe, and responsive to the needs of students and staff.

Maintenance and Repairs

Perform a wide range of general maintenance tasks including repair of doors, windows, locks, office furniture, flooring, and fixtures.

Complete minor electrical work such as replacing outlets, lighting fixtures, bulbs, and ballasts.

Perform minor plumbing repairs including unclogging drains, replacing washers, and repairing fixtures.

Install, repair, and maintain drywall, wall textures, and painted surfaces.

Replace carpet tiles, hard floor tiles, and cove base as needed.


Multi-Site Operations

Travel between four assigned charter school locations to address maintenance needs.

Operate a service vehicle safely and efficiently throughout the workday.

Prioritize and manage work orders across multiple sites with minimal supervision.

Conduct routine inspections of facilities and address maintenance issues proactively.


Work Order Management and Organization

Utilize CMMS systems to open, track, and close work orders with clear and accurate documentation.

Maintain strong organization and time management to support multi-site responsibilities.

Order and manage maintenance supplies and materials as needed.


Emergency Response and Support

Respond to urgent maintenance needs and emergency situations across all assigned locations.

Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours or weekend issues as needed.

Escalate larger maintenance concerns to leadership for further action.


Safety and Team Support

Ensure safe and proper use of tools, equipment, and materials at all times.

Support custodial teams as needed, providing guidance and assistance to maintain facility standards.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment across all locations.

Qualifications

•    Requires at least 5 years of progressive, responsible experience in one or more of the skilled trades
•    Leadership skills and experience preferred
•    Requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience
•    Considerable knowledge of practices, methods, and techniques pertaining to building, grounds and facilities maintenance and repair
•    Must be well organized, computer literate with solid understanding of MS office software
•    Ability to communicate optimally, both orally and in writing
•    Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
•    Must understand the value of a work order system to support implementation of CMMS
•    Experience with CMMS systems and building management systems is a plus
•    A universal refrigeration certificate a plus
•    Considerable knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to building and facilities maintenance and repair and the use of power tools
•    Training in government safety regulations a plus where applicable
•    Ability to work long hours in inclement weather and emergency situations, such as snow removal operations, storms, etc.
•    Ability to effectively communicate on radios; and hear over equipment noise
•    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, vendors, and the public
•    Ability to wear a respirator and/or self-contained breathing apparatus as outlined in the Industrial Standard for Respirator Use
