Job Description
Aramark Destinations has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller, overseeing the Southwest District.
As the Assistant Unit Controller you will support the objectives of the Finance department while assisting operating departments with forecasting, budget, labor and inventory controls, analysis, auditing as well as operational responsibilities for the units you are supporting.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, the successful candidate will:
- Partner with one or more General Managers and other business leaders to identify financial risks and opportunities, make recommendations, and drive positive financial outcomes.
- Manage one or more Finance professionals, providing direction and support as needed. Develop team members for career growth and succession planning by providing training, coaching, and feedback.
- Oversee and ensure successful completion of Daily & Weekly Reporting, Month-End Close, Monthly Forecast, CAPEX Planning & Spend, Annual Operating Plan, Client Deliverables, A/P, A/R, Cash & Banking, and assigned Tax & Compliance tasks, for all assigned properties.
- Accommodate internal and external auditors.
- Ensure proper internal controls to support SOX compliance.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Additional Accounting and Finance Responsibilities
- Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reclasses, reconciliations, and review of financial results.
- Assist with accounts payable, vendor setup, invoice research, and expense coding to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Partner with operations and finance teams to gather financial support, resolve discrepancies, and improve reporting accuracy.
- Prepare and maintain accounting schedules, analysis, and process documentation to support consistent procedures and audit readiness.
- Review revenue, expense, inventory, and purchasing activity to identify unusual items and ensure financial information is complete and reliable.
- Support finance training, onboarding, and process improvement efforts by creating clear documentation and helping standardize routine accounting tasks.
Qualifications
- 2 to 3 year minimum experience required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, business or a related field
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, and comfort in learning new accounting and finance systems
- High level of comfort with frequent change in a fast-paced environment
- Desire and drive to strategically partner with non-finance team members and drive financial results
