Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join the U.S. commercial legal team to support Workplace Experience Group and Corrections.  The position reports to the SVP & Deputy General Counsel, U.S. Sector and is based at Aramark HQ in Philadelphia.  

Job Responsibilities

Trusted Partner:  

  • Provide sound business and legal advice to the business, including regulatory issues, strategic partnerships, contract interpretation questions, risk considerations, and commercial disputes.  
  • Establish credibility and trust through effective communication and collaboration.    

Commercial Legal Support:  

  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements.  Interpret contracts and advise on commercial disputes.
  • Support sales and operations teams by reviewing and advising on requests for proposal and bid responses.  
  • Assist in managing litigation, M&A, collections, and other matters.  
  • Work with outside counsel on various matters.

People and Culture:  

  • Build relationships to maximize collaboration and ability to influence business outcomes and mitigate risk.  
  • Model a growth mindset and promote culture of trusted hospitality.  
  • Lead and/or contribute to Legal team or other initiatives as assigned.  
  • Travel: As needed (~10%) for in-person negotiations, internal trainings, and regional meetings.

Qualifications

Educational background:  Excellent academic credentials and J.D. required. Active law license in PA and/or ability to become licensed in PA. 

Experience: At least 5 years of experience at a law firm, sophisticated corporate legal department, or regulatory agency.  Hospitality experience (in any capacity) a plus.    

Skills:  Strong analytical, communication and client-service skills.  Effective negotiator and collaborator.  Proficient in managing legal risk and providing practical, business-oriented advice.  

Characteristics:  Independent problem solver with sound judgment.  Adept at juggling multiple priorities and addressing curve balls.  Builds trust with stakeholders.  Proactive, responsive, and brings a sense of purpose and urgency.  Open to feedback and opportunities to grow.  Embraces innovation and Aramark’s hospitality culture.
