Title:  AI Security & Governance Sr. Manager

Job Description

The AI Security & Governance Lead is a cross-functional role responsible for enabling safe, responsible, and secure use of AI across the organization. This person will own both the governance of AI-related data usage and the security of AI development processes. The ideal candidate balances risk management with innovation enablement — helping the organization adopt AI confidently while protecting data, brand, and business integrity. 

Job Responsibilities

AI Data Governance 

• Design and maintain lightweight data classification and usage guidelines for AI tools. 
• Maintain a registry of approved AI tools, use cases, and associated data types. 
• Educate business and technical teams on responsible AI usage and data protection. 
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and privacy teams to monitor evolving AI regulations and ensure policy alignment. 
• Review escalations or exceptions related to data usage in AI contexts. 

Secure AI Development Lifecycle (SAI-DLC) 

• Define and implement security controls for the AI/ML development lifecycle (from data ingestion to deployment). 
• Partner with Threat Management team to conduct AI-specific threat modeling (e.g., prompt injection, data leakage, model poisoning) and include AI-threat use cases in security exercises. 
• Partner with software and data engineering teams to build secure-by-design AI solutions. 
• Evaluate and monitor third-party AI vendors and APIs for security, compliance, and risk. 

Cross-functional Collaboration 

• Serve as the bridge between InfoSec, Engineering, Data, and Legal/Compliance for all AI-related concerns. 
• Participate in governance and innovation forums to shape AI strategy with a security-first lens. 
• Report quarterly on AI governance maturity, incidents, tool usage, and gaps. 

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in information security, data governance, or DevSecOps 
• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, risks, and development lifecycles (not necessarily hands-on model building) 
• Strong understanding of data protection principles (classification, access controls, usage monitoring) 
• Experience working with software development and/or data science teams 
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences 

Bonus: knowledge of AI-specific security threats or emerging AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF)

• AI initiatives are rolled out securely, without unnecessary delays or red tape.
