The General Manager – Resort Operations is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of Adventures on the Gorge, Aramark Destinations’ newest resort property in the Mid-Atlantic region. This role oversees all aspects of the resort – including lodging, F&B, culinary, retail, engineering, and guest services – ensuring an exceptional guest experience, strong financial results, safe operations, and alignment with Aramark standards. Annual revenue for this multi-unit resort portfolio ranges from $12–18m+. 

The General Manager – Resort Operations serves as the senior operational leader on property, reporting to the Area General Manager, guiding department heads, fostering collaboration, strengthening community and partner relationships, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Aramark leader and/or hospitality operator who thrives in dynamic environments and excels at both strategic oversight and hands-on problem solving.  

Job Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service Leadership 

  • Leads the resort’s guest experience, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality service across all touchpoints. 
  • Promotes a culture focused on hospitality, safety, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. 
  • Monitors guest satisfaction metrics, online reputation, and service audits, implementing action plans where appropriate. 

Operational & Financial Management 

  • Oversees day-to-day resort operations across lodging, F&B, culinary, retail, engineering, and guest services. 
  • Partners with Finance to develop annual operating plans, budgets, and forecasts; manages performance against goals. 
  • Drives revenue growth, cost efficiency, labor management, and margin improvement across departments. 
  • Ensures accurate reporting, inventory control, and compliance with financial policies and procedures. 

Leadership & Talent Development 

  • Recruits, develops, and mentors a high-performing management team and hourly workforce. 
  • Establishes performance standards, accountability systems, and clear communication practices. 
  • Champions safety, training, and employee engagement initiatives. 

Regulatory Compliance & Safety 

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as health, safety, liquor, and environmental standards. 
  • Oversees risk management, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety programs. 
  • Maintains required licenses, permits, inspection records, and certifications. 

Facilities, Capital & Asset Management 

  • Oversees resort physical plant, grounds, and infrastructure; partners with Facility Operations & Asset Management leadership on preventative maintenance and asset planning. 
  • Supports execution of capital projects, renovations, and long-range property improvement plans. 
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards and brand-aligned guest environment expectations. 

Community, Partner & Stakeholder Relations 

  • Represents the resort in the local community and maintains positive relationships with state agencies, tourism partners, and business associations. 
  • Collaborates with Aramark Destinations regional support teams (Finance, HR, Sales, Legal, Culinary, Performance Excellence, OpX, etc.) to execute enterprise initiatives and operating standards. 
  • Supports the resort’s marketing and brand efforts through coordination with Sales & Marketing. 

Standards & Organizational Alignment 

  • Ensures compliance with Aramark operating standards, policies, and code of business conduct. 
  • Leads adoption of enterprise systems, tools, and processes

Qualifications

Education & Experience 

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in dining, full-service resort, hotel, or broader hospitality operations preferred. 
  • Minimum 3 years overseeing multi-department or campus-style operations within Aramark strongly preferred, including direct oversight of multiple P&Ls and salaried leaders. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Tourism, or related field preferred. 
  • Demonstrated success leading through department heads and supervisors, with accountability for financial performance and business outcomes. 

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong command of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, labor deployment, and margin improvement. 
  • Demonstrated ability to improve guest service performance and operational consistency. 
  • Skilled communicator capable of influencing internal teams, guests, ownership, and external partners. 
  • Comfortable working with contractual requirements, compliance frameworks, and operational standards. 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities through improved service, programming, and product offerings. 
  • Competent with systems used in hospitality operations (PMS, POS, financial reporting, workforce management, etc.). 

Physical & Other Requirements 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced resort environment with regular movement across the property. 
  • Role may require prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting. 
  • Weekend, holiday, and peak-season availability required. 
  • Uniform and PPE may be required depending on department and task
