Job Description
Adventures On the Gorge is searching for a seasoned veteran rock climber to be a supervisor in the climbing and hiking department for the season from April to October. New River Gorge is world renowned for its high-quality climbing areas. From beginner to advanced, the area offers the novice the opportunity to experience the sport, while enjoying the Gorge. The Climbing and Hiking Supervisor is responsible for providing exceptional and safe leadership to both team members and guests before, during and after climbing and hiking trips.
Job Responsibilities
- Arrive at scheduled time dressed and ready to work.
- Provide guests with specific safety instructions regarding equipment and trip plan.
- Provide interesting and entertaining information about popular locations or specific points of interest.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all products and services offered by AOTG.
- Organize the staff and equipment to lead groups on climbing and hiking trips.
- Assist in hiring tasks for the climbing and hiking department.
- Reviews and adheres to staffing schedule for the scheduled trips.
- Assists in the check-in process for scheduled trips offering the necessary equipment to participants.
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures to ensure safety of guests.
- Works in conditions that involve exposure to unusual elements and extreme temperatures.
- Maintains excellent customer service and a positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.

Qualifications
- AMGA Single Pitch Instructor certification is required for this position.
- Completion of AOTG training program or equivalent.
- Training in First Aid protocols such as Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Wilderness EMT or EMT/Paramedic preferred.
- Must have extensive experience guiding in the same or related environment.
- Sit, stand and walk for varied amounts of time.
- Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Driver's license preferred.
- Must be available to work flexible hours.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
