The Associate Director of Sales leads the resort’s sales and marketing efforts with a focus on driving revenue growth across group, social, corporate, and leisure business at Adventures on the Gorge. Reporting directly to the Area General Manager, this role develops and executes sales strategies, oversees the full sales cycle from inquiry through contract, and maintains strong relationships with clients, planners, tourism partners, and regional stakeholders. The Associate Director actively manages the resort’s pipeline, pricing, distribution channels, promotional initiatives, and brand messaging in coordination with Aramark Destinations commercial support resources. Performance is measured through revenue capture, lead conversion, market penetration, and guest satisfaction performance.
The Associate Director of Sales oversees a team including a Marketing Manager, Sales Coordinator, and Events Coordinator, ensuring clear communication between sales, events, and operations to support seamless execution and a consistent guest experience. The role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to forecast demand, structure rates, and align marketing programs to business goals. Success in this position is demonstrated through booked business, effective team leadership, and collaboration with above-property support and on-property operating departments to ensure accurate handoffs and high-quality delivery.
Job Responsibilities
• Drives revenue growth by developing and executing sales and marketing strategies across group, social, corporate, and leisure segments.
• Achieves or exceeds individual and property sales targets and revenue goals through proactive sales deployment and pipeline management.
• Oversees group contracting process including rate proposals, terms, concessions, and space utilization to ensure alignment with revenue goals.
• Collaborates with revenue management resources to manage rate strategy, inventory controls, forecasting, and banquet/meeting space optimization.
• Monitors market conditions, competitive activity, and demand trends to optimize business mix and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Produces required business reporting including pace reports, actual vs. target, action plans, segment performance, and post-mortem summaries.
• Communicates best practices and collaborates with above-property commercial teams, tourism authorities, and community stakeholders.
• Recruits, trains, coaches, and evaluates sales and marketing team members to ensure performance standards, accountability, and career development.
• Develops strong client and partner relationships, serving as a primary liaison for planners, agencies, tourism groups, and local businesses.
• Supports cross-sell and on-property activation initiatives to drive incremental revenue and ancillary capture.
• Works closely with the Area General Manager, General Manager – Resort Operations, and on-property departments to ensure seamless handoffs from sales to operations and high-quality event execution.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental and property performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Hospitality
- 5 years’ experience in sales, group catering events or like employment with management experience
- Effective people management and staff development experience
- Must be financially adept and accountable in managing to budget
- Must have experience in the development and execution of sales and marketing plans
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Experience with computer applications including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Maestro, Opera, Springer, Miller System or other property management systems.
- Experience with sales based CRM applications
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
- General financial acumen
- Demonstrated success working and building effective internal relationships that move the business forward within matrix, team-based environment
