Job Description
The Assistant Executive Menu Developer supports the Lead Executive Menu Developer and National Menu Director/Corporate Dietitian in the development, implementation, management, and ongoing oversight of HPSI menu services. This position helps ensure HPSI menus, recipes, nutritional data, order guides, and related menu services are accurate, compliant with applicable Federal and State requirements, and completed according to client needs and established deadlines.
The position works closely with the Menu Office team to support daily operations, menu development, client service, staff training, and special projects. The Assistant Executive Menu Developer also works directly with HPSI clients, food distributors, manufacturers, and internal HPSI teams and may assist with new business, sales support, marketing, educational presentations, and custom menu development as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with members of the Menu Office team to ensure HPSI menu client services are running smoothly, deadlines are met, and pending menu development projects are completed. Assist with oversight and instruction of Menu Office employees regarding HPSI/Aramark policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Support Registered Dietitians in reviewing nutritional values for regular and therapeutic diets and provide guidance regarding applicable Federal and State menu requirements and regulatory changes.
- Work with the Recipe Database Manager to support development and review of recipes, methods, CCPs, therapeutic spreads, mega patterns, product testing, and nutritional accuracy.
- Work with Order Guide Specialists and the OGM Lead to ensure order guides and food formularies correspond with menus developed for chain customers and address vendor feeds, out-of-stock products, substitutions, and related concerns.
- Work with the Menu Office Coordinator and other support staff to ensure Menu Office functions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Train Menu Office employees in the use of HPSI menu software and other programs as needed and assist clients through Support Contact Us, email, telephone, and other communication channels.
- Maintain the integrity and compliance of HPSI menu data, ensuring accurate data entry and adherence to Federal and State requirements.
- Assist with planning and development of HPSI master baseline menus, upscale menus, regional menus, and corporation-specific menus; ensure menus are developed and distributed timely, data is accurate, and menus meet Diet Manual parameters each cycle.
- Assist the Corporate Dietitian with revisions to the HPSI Policy and Procedure Manual, Emergency Manual, and HPSI Diet Manual as needed.
- Work directly with HPSI clients and chains to develop menus meeting food cost, quality, cultural/ethnic, nutritional, and operational needs and provide menu program training and assistance as needed.
- Work with food distributors and manufacturers to maintain ingredient information within the HPSI Menu System, evaluate products for potential menu use, review product and nutritional data, and attend scheduled product cuttings as needed.
- When necessary, assist clients with menu-related survey issues and communicate with surveyors from a menu-services standpoint only.
- Assist with development and delivery of presentations for national or state healthcare meetings when needed and represent HPSI at applicable dietetic and healthcare conferences.
- Work with the National Menu Director/Corporate Dietitian on new business, custom menus, additional sales products, and other initiatives designed to grow and improve HPSI Menu Services.
- Work with HPSI Purchasing Consultants to assist with marketing and positioning the HPSI Menu Program.
- Maintain Registered Dietitian credentials through required continuing education and review of current professional literature.
- Complete additional duties as needed, including marketing events, required Aramark employee training, team-building activities, meetings, and special Menu Office projects.
Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian (RD) required, with active CDR credential maintained throughout employment.
- Minimum of 3 years of skilled nursing experience.
- At least 2–3 years of menu-planning experience within long-term care, assisted living, retirement, personal care, and/or other healthcare markets served by HPSI.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing nutritional and menu requirements for healthcare facilities.
- Experience or knowledge in healthcare nutrition services management, clinical nutrition support, and CMS survey processes strongly preferred, as many HPSI clients operate under skilled nursing regulations.
- Experience with menu-development software required; Menu2u experience preferred, but not required.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently while working effectively within a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, training, client-service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel and drive as required for business activities.
Benefits
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $70,304-$90,000. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.
