Job Description
The Concessions Manager - Indianapolis Zoo, is responsible for developing and planning menus for all concession locations and partnering with zoo leadership to finalize plans. This role ensures purchasing operations align with customer demand and event needs, oversees warehouse and purchasing functions, manages shared concession spaces, and leads concession venue operations. The position is responsible for developing and executing dining solutions that meet guest expectations while driving operational excellence, financial performance, and high-quality food service across all concession locations.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop concession and culinary teams to drive engagement, performance, and operational success
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain frontline employees and supervisors
- Foster a culture of accountability, recognition, safety, and continuous improvement
- Ensure all food service operations align with organizational and operational standards
Operations Management
- Oversee daily concession operations across all venues
- Develop menus and food service programs that meet guest preferences and event requirements
- Manage warehouse, purchasing, and receiving operations
- Establish and maintain procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, and serving food products
- Coordinate production, merchandising, labor management, quality assurance, and inventory control
- Conduct periodic inventories and maintain accurate operational records
Client & Event Partnership
- Collaborate with zoo leadership and facility partners to support activations, seasonal programming, and special events
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and clients
- Communicate operational plans, progress, and business needs effectively
Financial Management
- Manage budgets, revenue goals, and departmental financial performance
- Monitor and control food, beverage, and labor costs
- Maintain P&L accountability and achieve established financial targets
- Utilize Aramark systems and processes to support operational efficiency
- Identify opportunities for sales growth, guest satisfaction, and client retention
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all company, health department, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards across all locations
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations and other applicable policies
- Support Operational Excellence initiatives and performance standards
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage front-of-house operations within concession and dining environments
- Develop and implement service plans that align with organizational goals and sustainability initiatives
- Participate in contract discussions, business development opportunities, and new service implementations as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3+ years of food service experience
- 1-3 years of leadership or management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Experience managing multiple food service or concession locations
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build positive client, customer, and team relationships
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional guest service
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to deliver a unified guest experience
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
-Ability to work a schedule which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
