Title: Electrician I - Mecklenburg County Facilities

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Perform electrical repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting in county-owned facilities.
- Replace ballasts, lamps, breakers, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and related electrical components.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose electrical systems to identify issues and ensure safe operation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and electrical specifications.
- Install, examine, repair, and maintain wiring, conduits, feeders, and electrical equipment.
- Complete preventive maintenance activities and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Support general facilities maintenance operations as needed across approximately 75 county buildings.
- Communicate effectively with facility personnel, managers, and maintenance team members.
- Follow all safety procedures, electrical codes, PPE requirements, and Aramark operating standards.
- Participate in occasional after-hours call responses for urgent facility needs.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter weather events when required.
Qualifications
Required
- Active North Carolina State Electrical License.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- 10+ years of electrical experience, preferably in service, commercial, institutional, or facilities
- maintenance environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving lighting systems, breakers, panels, and building electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, codes, and industry standards.
- Ability to work independently across multiple facilities and prioritize service requests.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, climb ladders, walk, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, and respond to occasional after-hours calls.
Preferred
- Experience supporting government, municipal, healthcare, education, or large commercial facilities.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized work order systems.
- Experience supporting multiple sites or geographically dispersed facilities.
- General facilities maintenance experience beyond electrical work.
