Pay:
Aramark is hiring a Painter I to support facility maintenance operations within a secure correctional facility in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for painting, surface preparation, drywall repair, and general upkeep of interior spaces including inmate housing units, corridors, common areas, and administrative spaces. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial, institutional, or maintenance painting and takes pride in producing quality work while maintaining a safe, organized work area. This position works closely with facility maintenance teams and may perform duties similar to those of a maintenance technician, building maintenance worker, or facilities trades professional. Candidates must be dependable, able to work independently, and comfortable following strict security procedures in a correctional environment. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.
Job Responsibilities

Prepare walls, ceilings, doors, and other surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and caulking.

Apply primer, paint, stains, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and other painting equipment.

Complete drywall and Sheetrock patching, repairs, and finishing to maintain facility appearance.

Paint inmate housing areas, hallways, offices, common areas, and other assigned spaces within the facility.

Maintain paint supplies, tools, ladders, and equipment in safe working condition.

Match paint colors and finishes when performing repairs and touch-up work.

Follow established safety procedures and properly handle painting materials and chemicals.

Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout each project.

Work independently to complete painting projects within established timelines.

Communicate effectively with maintenance leadership regarding project status and material needs.

Adhere to all facility security requirements, access procedures, and correctional facility rules.

Assist with general maintenance-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum 6 months to 1 year of hands-on painting experience.
- Experience with drywall/Sheetrock patching, repair, and surface preparation.
- Knowledge of standard painting methods, materials, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to safely operate painting tools, ladders, rollers, brushes, and related equipment.
- Ability to follow directions, safety procedures, and security protocols.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
- Ability to pass the required Sheriff's Department background investigation and meet all facility access requirements.
- Ability to perform physical work including standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, lifting materials, and working throughout a large facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in commercial, institutional, government, correctional, healthcare, school, or industrial facilities.
- Experience performing facility maintenance or maintenance technician duties.
- Familiarity with paint matching, wall finishing, and minor building repairs.
- Experience working in secure or highly regulated environments.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
