Job Description

The Laundry Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laundry department to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality processing of linens, uniforms, and other laundered items. This role supervises laundry attendants, maintains inventory levels, ensures equipment functionality, and promotes compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and customer service expectations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of laundry room staff.
  • Assign work tasks and monitor employee productivity and performance.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members on laundry procedures, safety standards, and proper equipment use.
  • Ensure all laundry items are washed, dried, folded, sorted, and distributed according to established quality standards.
  • Monitor linen and uniform inventory levels and report shortages or damaged items.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency within the laundry facility.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company procedures.Assist with scheduling, attendance tracking, and timekeeping for laundry personnel.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate maintenance or repairs of laundry equipment when necessary.
  • Maintain records related to laundry production, inventory, equipment maintenance, and staffing.
  • Address employee concerns and provide corrective coaching as needed.
  • Support departmental goals by identifying opportunities to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes in partnership with management and Human Resources.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of laundry, housekeeping, hospitality, healthcare, or related operational experience.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as required.
