Title:  Health & Wellness Student Intern - James Madison University

Job Description

As a Health & Wellness intern, you will assist the JMU Dining Registered Dietitian with nutrition-related events across campus. Responsibilities will include event planning, marketing, and execution. This position is ideal for student interested in pursuing work in the nutrition field.

Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate with JMU Dining RD (Health & Wellness Manager) and other Health & Wellness interns to plan events.
  • Events include weekly educational tabling events at the dining halls, monthly cooking classes at UREC, other university events, etc.
• Support RD in educating students regarding healthy food choices available throughout campus.
• Support nutrition event execution.
  • Intern-run tabling events with samples, intern-guided education section during cooking classes, etc.
• Assist with maintaining Worry-Free Zone (peanut-, tree nut-, and gluten-free pantry)
  • Restocking, ordering products, cleaning counters, etc.
• Ensure proper food handling during food sampling events.
• Create educational social media posts and other materials using Canva
• Conduct audits at campus dining locations on a regular basis
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-worker, etc.

*Occasional weekend shifts are necessary.

Qualifications

•    Previous food service experience preferred
•    Must have or acquire food safety certification
•    Demonstrates guest service skills

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
