Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Security Worker to join our team for the seasonal operation of our remote hotel in Glacier Bay, Alaska. This role is critical in ensuring the health, safety, and security of our property, guests, and seasonal employee base. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and adaptable to the unique challenges of working in a remote wilderness environment.

Glacier Bay Lodge is a small 50-room lodge nestled in between coastal mountains, incredible fjords, and Alaska's Inside Passage and is a remote wilderness experience you don’t want to miss. The only way to travel to us is by air or sea from Juneau to the friendly little town of Gustavus, your Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve.

This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of May 14 - September 10, 2026.

Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.
Job Responsibilities
Guest & Employee Safety
- Monitor hotel grounds, facilities, and common areas to ensure a safe environment.
- Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, or safety concerns involving guests or staff.
Property Protection
- Conduct regular patrols of the property, including guest accommodations, staff housing, and service areas.
- Safeguard against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
Emergency Response
- Act as first responder in medical, fire, or security emergencies.
- Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services when necessary.
- Lead drills and preparedness exercises for staff.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate incident reports and daily activity logs.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, safety protocols, and state/federal regulations.
Community Engagement
- Provide courteous assistance to guests and employees.
- Support seasonal staff by fostering a safe and respectful workplace culture.

Qualifications
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or hospitality safety preferred.
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- The ability to gather and interpret information and to accurately complete required reporting procedures
- Knowledgeable in search and seizure, constitutional rights, investigative, and interviewing techniques
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Comfortable working in a remote, wilderness setting with limited resources.
- Physically capable of performing patrols and responding to emergencies.
- Able to work independently and under indirect supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all investigations, incidents, etc.
- Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 lb
- Requires frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs
- Must be able to work - days, nights, overnights, weekends, holidays as required by location
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must have a valid driver's license
