Job Description
Aramark is seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Technician to support preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial custodial equipment across multiple facilities in Chandler, AZ. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational reliability by maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in a facilities maintenance environment.
The Equipment Maintenance Technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, conduct equipment diagnostics, and respond to service requests in a timely manner. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting a broader facilities operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance & Inspections
- Perform routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on custodial equipment and related systems; complete daily/weekly/monthly checklists to keep equipment in safe, serviceable condition.
- Maintain PathoSans units to ensure consistent on-site solution generation and uptime.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and basic plumbing issues on custodial equipment and minor appliances; repair or replace components to restore function.
- Escalate major maintenance needs and recommend corrective actions when appropriate.
Parts, Vendors & Cost Control
- Identify required parts, research alternatives, and execute cost-conscious ordering through approved vendors to reduce turnaround time and total repair costs.
- Track spend, warranty usage, and opportunities to minimize equipment downtime.
Customer Service & Communication
- Provide a friendly, efficient, and positive service experience for site staff and stakeholders; adapt to evolving customer needs and priorities.
- Document work performed, parts used, and equipment status; communicate progress, ETAs, and recommendations clearly to site leaders.
Safety, Compliance & Professional Standards

- Demonstrate safe, efficient use of tools/equipment and follow all facilities safety policies and procedures; wear PPE when required.
- Participate in required training and maintain professional competence aligned to departmental commitments.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience repairing and maintaining custodial or similar industrial/commercial equipment (diagnostics, mechanical/electrical troubleshooting).
- Working knowledge of light plumbing and basic electrical (120V circuits, cord end replacement, switches, solenoids, flow issues).
- Ability to read equipment manuals, parts diagrams, and maintenance schedules; comfortable using a CMMS or digital work order system.
- Strong customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel between district sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PathoSans or other on-site generation cleaning systems.
- Vendor/parts sourcing experience; cost-reduction mindset.
- Prior facilities maintenance exposure.
Additional Information
Work Schedule & Environment
- Must be available for flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.
- Role involves standing/walking for extended periods; lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling; and occasional use of uniforms and/or PPE as required.
Success Indicators (First 90 Days)
- Establish an equipment inventory and PM checklist cadence for top sites; reduce open work orders >14 days.
- Stabilize PathoSans uptime with documented PM routines and a quick-turn spares list.
- Implement a simple parts log with preferred-vendor SKUs to shorten repair cycles and capture savings opportunities.
