Job Description

A barista is responsible for preparing and serving beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Job Responsibilities

•    Beverage Preparation: Baristas prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. They must follow specific recipes and techniques to ensure quality and consistency. 
  2.    Customer Service: A significant part of a barista's role involves interacting with customers, taking their orders, and providing recommendations based on their preferences. Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor are essential for creating a positive customer experience.  
  3.    Cash Handling: Baristas are often responsible for operating cash registers, processing payments, and managing transactions accurately. 
  4.    Workspace Maintenance: Keeping the work area clean and organized is crucial. Baristas must regularly clean equipment, sanitize surfaces, and ensure that the café or coffee shop meets hygiene standards. 
  5.    Stock Management: Baristas monitor inventory levels, restock supplies as needed, and ensure that all ingredients are fresh and available for use.  
  6.    Food Handling: In some establishments, baristas may also prepare and serve light snacks, pastries, or meals, requiring knowledge of food safety practices.  
  7.    Team Collaboration: Baristas often work as part of a team, collaborating with other staff members to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

•    Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
•    Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or  holidays
•    Meet store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation
•    Engage with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication
•    Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients
•    Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift
