Job Description

Aramark is hiring a Groundskeeper / Landscaping Technician at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. This hands-on outdoor role is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of campus grounds through landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, and general grounds maintenance. The position works a consistent 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM schedule and requires operating landscaping equipment, assisting with furniture moves, and keeping outdoor areas in top condition. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physical work throughout the day. Ideal applicants have experience as a groundskeeper, landscaper, lawn maintenance worker, grounds technician, or outdoor maintenance employee and can be counted on to work safely and reliably every shift.

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Mow, trim, edge, weed, rake, and maintain lawns, landscaped areas, and green spaces.
  • Plant, water, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, and other outdoor vegetation.
  • Remove leaves, litter, debris, and other materials from campus grounds.
  • Perform seasonal snow and ice removal on sidewalks, walkways, entrances, and outdoor common areas.
  • Operate landscaping equipment including mowers, string trimmers (weed eaters), hedge trimmers, blowers, sprayers, and related groundskeeping tools.
  • Clean and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, driveways, and outdoor gathering spaces.
  • Assist with furniture and equipment moves across campus as needed
  • .Conduct basic inspections and routine maintenance of groundskeeping equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and use proper protective equipment while performing work.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, property damage, hazards, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Work outdoors in changing weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Support the overall appearance and safety of university grounds and facilities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, lawn care, outdoor property maintenance, or a related field.
  • Ability to safely operate landscaping and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical work for the duration of the shift.
  • Valid non-commercial driver's license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Availability to work the assigned schedule of 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Dependable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred

  • 1+ years of landscaping, groundskeeping, or lawn maintenance experience.
  • Experience with snow removal and seasonal grounds maintenance.
  • Experience operating tractors or similar outdoor maintenance equipment.
  • Experience working on a campus, commercial property, or large outdoor facility.
