COMPENSATION: The hourly rate or salary range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000.  If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer.  This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.​

Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a Custodial Manager to lead custodial operations at the University of New Hampshire.

This role is responsible for overseeing evening custodial operations across university buildings and campus facilities while leading frontline custodial teams in a fast-paced higher education environment. The Custodial Manager will play a critical role in maintaining clean, safe, and well-presented facilities for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

We are seeking a strong operational leader with experience managing custodial, housekeeping, environmental services, or facilities cleaning teams in large-scale higher education environments. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, customer-focused, and comfortable managing teams in active operational environments where quality, responsiveness, and accountability matter.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary range: $60,000 - $75,000 annually
  • 2nd Shift Schedule: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Schedule Expectations

This is a dedicated 2nd shift leadership role supporting active university operations during afternoon and evening hours. Candidates should be comfortable working evenings consistently, including occasional weekends, campus events, emergency response situations, or operational coverage needs.


Job Responsibilities

Lead Custodial Operations Across Campus

  • Oversee daily custodial operations across academic buildings, common areas, residence halls, and campus facilities
  • Manage custodial associates and frontline team leads during the 2nd shift
  • Ensure cleaning schedules, staffing assignments, and operational priorities are completed effectively
  • Maintain strong cleanliness, safety, and appearance standards throughout campus facilities
  • Support a positive campus experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors

Quality Assurance & Inspections

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure custodial quality standards are consistently met
  • Identify operational issues and implement corrective action quickly
  • Partner with university leadership and facilities teams to maintain strong client satisfaction

Operations & Facilities Coordination

  • Coordinate staffing plans, work assignments, and daily operational coverage
  • Review work orders and prioritize custodial activities based on campus needs
  • Maintain effective communication with campus stakeholders and facilities leadership

Inventory, Equipment & Budget Oversight

  • Monitor custodial supply usage and equipment needs
  • Ensure custodial equipment is properly maintained and operational
  • Help manage supply expenses and operational efficiencies

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, university, and Aramark safety standards
  • Promote proper PPE usage and safe work practices
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of custodial, housekeeping, environmental services, or facilities operations leadership experience
  • Prior experience supervising custodial or cleaning teams required
  • Experience working in large facilities environments preferred:
    • Universities or colleges
    • Hospitals or healthcare facilities
    • Hotels or hospitality operations
    • Airports or transportation facilities
    • Convention centers or event venues
    • Commercial office buildings
    • Public facilities

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of custodial operations, cleaning procedures, and custodial equipment
  • Experience managing staffing schedules and operational workflows
  • Ability to lead teams in fast-paced, customer-facing environments
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Customer-service mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Computer and administrative skills preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent operational leadership experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk large campus facilities throughout shift
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, push, and move equipment as needed
  • Ability to work in active custodial and facilities environments

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
