Job Description

The Transportation Dispatch Supervisor oversees the daily functions of the Transportation Dispatch office, ensuring efficient scheduling, communication, and workflow across all transportation operations. This role provides leadership and support to dispatchers and coordinates closely with drivers, maintenance, HR, and leadership to ensure safe, timely, and reliable vehicle operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, an excellent communicator, and skilled at managing both people and complex logistics in a fast-paced, remote environment. 

About Denali National Park & Preserve and Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture:    

Summer days in Alaska stretch nearly endlessly, with up to 20 hours of daylight on the Summer Solstice. Spanning 6.2 million acres, Denali National Park & Preserve is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and attracts over half a million visitors annually. Conveniently accessible by road—4.5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks.   

Doyon Limited and Aramark have teamed up in a Joint Venture as the Denali National Park & Preserve's Concessionaire. Open May to September, our operation manages the transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions with our client; The National Park Service. By road, our 100 Blue Bird Bus Fleet takes guests past the 15-mile public access point daily during summer months, allowing people to hike, view wildlife, climb, and camp where few people have set foot.   

This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of April 16 - September 22, 2026.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision 

  • Lead, support, and supervise the Transportation Dispatch team to ensure efficient daily operations. 
  • Train new dispatchers and ensure ongoing coaching on communication, scheduling, safety, and administrative procedures. 
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for peak periods and emergency situations. 
  • Assist managers with performance evaluations and support employee development and accountability. 

Operational Oversight 

  • Oversee daily driver assignments, ensuring routes are adequately covered based on operational needs and available personnel. 
  • Monitor dispatch activities in real time, stepping in to resolve issues or provide guidance as needed. 
  • Ensure accurate tracking, documentation, and reporting of transportation metrics, schedules, incidents, and route performance. 
  • Maintain oversight of vehicle key control systems and ensure all check-in/out procedures are followed. 

Communication & Coordination 

  • Serve as a central liaison between drivers, dispatchers, maintenance, leadership, and other departments requiring transportation support. 
  • Coordinate communication during emergencies, ensuring timely, accurate updates between field staff and management. 
  • Support lodge-wide communication needs that relate to transportation operations or safety. 

Safety & Compliance 

  • Ensure dispatchers and drivers follow all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations and policies. 
  • Oversee compliance with hours-of-service rules, vehicle inspection workflows, and documentation standards. 
  • Partner with maintenance teams to prioritize vehicle repairs, scheduled service, and safety inspections. 

Problem Solving & Decision Making 

  • Anticipate and respond to operational challenges such as route disruptions, vehicle breakdowns, weather impacts, and staffing shortages. 
  • Develop contingency plans and alternative routing to maintain service continuity. 
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex or high-stress transportation situations. 

Administrative Management 

  • Maintain and improve dispatch procedures, training materials, and operational standards. 
  • Prepare summary reports and operational updates for lodge leadership. 
  • Ensure accurate data management in dispatch systems, driver schedules, and communication logs. 
  • Support budgeting processes by providing insights into transportation needs, staffing, and equipment usage. 

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in logistics, transportation management, or business preferred. 
  • Previous supervisory experience, ideally in dispatching, transportation, logistics, or a similar fast-paced operational environment. 
  • Strong computer skills, including dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational abilities. 
  • Proven ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick, sound decisions. 
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards. 

Work Environment 

  • Primarily office-based with frequent interaction with drivers, dispatchers, and other departments. 
  • May require evening, weekend, or on-call availability during peak season. 
  • Remote national park setting with large seasonal workforce and dynamic operational demands.
