Job Description
The Licensed Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing systems throughout the school district's facilities. This position supports a safe, functional, and healthy learning environment for students, staff, and visitors by ensuring all plumbing systems, fixtures, and related equipment operate efficiently and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
The ideal candidate has experience maintaining plumbing systems in large institutional facilities and demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and preventative maintenance.
Job Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, valves, drains, water heaters, pumps, and related equipment throughout district facilities.

Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing systems to minimize disruptions and extend equipment life.

Respond to service requests and emergency situations involving leaks, drain blockages, sewer backups, water quality issues, and equipment failures.

Repair and maintain restroom fixtures, drinking fountains, bottle-filling stations, kitchen plumbing systems, and locker room facilities.

Inspect plumbing infrastructure and recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements.

Monitor and maintain domestic water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and irrigation systems as assigned.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.Assist with school renovations, capital improvement projects, and new construction activities.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections, and inventory documentation.

Coordinate with school administrators, custodial staff, contractors, and other maintenance personnel to complete projects efficiently.

Support district emergency preparedness and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.

Follow all district safety policies, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications

Valid Journeyman or Master Plumber License as required by state and local regulations.

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum three (3) years of commercial, institutional, municipal, healthcare, educational, or industrial plumbing experience.

Working knowledge of plumbing codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Ability to successfully pass required background checks and screenings for employment in a school environment.
