UVA Dine is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Baker to join our team at the Subway location in Newcomb Hall on the University of Virginia grounds. This is a full-time position responsible for the daily preparation and baking of Subway's signature breads and cookies, ensuring freshness, quality, and adherence to brand standards. Job Responsibilities
-
Prepare and bake all varieties of Subway breads and cookies according to standardized recipes, production schedules, and quality guidelines.

Follow precise measurements and procedures for dough preparation, proofing, baking, and cooling.

Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent product quality.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the baking area, including ovens, proofers, mixers, and all baking tools and equipment.

Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients and baked goods.

Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, reporting needs to the supervisor.

Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of baking supplies.

Support front-of-house operations as needed, which may include stocking bread, serving customers, or assisting with sandwich preparation during peak times.

Adhere to all Subway brand standards, policies, and procedures.

Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions and recipes.

Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and inventory.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds occasionally (e.g., bags of flour).

Ability to work a consistent full-time schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Monday-Friday).

Prior experience in baking or food preparation is preferred, but not required.
