Title:  Food Service Worker - UVA - Einstein's @ Rice Hall

Job Description

UVA Dine is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Food Service Workers to join our team at Einstein's Bros. Bagels located in Rice Hall on the University of Virginia grounds. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a key role in delivering the Einstein's experience by preparing delicious bagels, sandwiches, and coffee, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and inviting store environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of bagels, spreads, sandwiches, coffee, and other beverages according to Einstein's Bros. Bagels recipes and standards.

• Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle cash, credit card transactions, and maintain accurate cash drawers.

• Provide friendly, efficient, and personalized customer service, taking orders and responding to inquiries.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, including food preparation areas, serving lines, condiment stations, and dining areas.

• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients.

• Stock and restock bagels, cream cheeses, other food items, supplies, and service areas as needed.

• Assist with inventory counts and report supply needs to the supervisor.

• Adhere to all Einstein's Bros. Bagels brand standards, policies, and procedures.

• Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth and efficient operations during peak hours.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions.

• Ability to perform basic math calculations for cash handling.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Prior experience in food service or customer service is preferred, but not always required.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (e.g., 8+ hours).

• Ability to work in a cafe and kitchen environment, which may be hot, noisy, and require exposure to various temperatures.

• Manual dexterity for preparing bagels, sandwiches, and handling food items.

• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
