Job Description
The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a designated service area within the dining hall. The supervisor ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality food, exceptional customer service, and adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation standards. This role involves leading, training, and motivating a team of frontline staff, managing inventory, and maintaining a positive and efficient work environment.
Job Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Management:

Supervise and support a team of food service staff, including cooks, cashiers, and utility workers.

Conduct on-the-job training and coaching for new and existing employees on proper procedures and standards.

Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback.

Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.

Operational Oversight:
-
Ensure all food preparation, handling, and serving practices comply with Aramark, UVA Dine, and local health and safety regulations.

Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in all work areas.

Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, receiving deliveries, and minimizing waste.

Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accurate cash reconciliation.

Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as they arise.

Customer Service:

Act as a point of contact for customer feedback and inquiries.

Proactively address customer concerns to ensure a positive dining experience.

Uphold and promote a culture of excellent customer service among the team.

Administrative Duties:

Assist with scheduling, timecard management, and payroll verification.

Complete daily reports and documentation as required.

Communicate effectively with management regarding operational status, staff needs, and any significant issues.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in food service or a related field.

Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly preferred.

ServSafe certification is required upon hire.

Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene principles.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
