Job Description
UVA Dine is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Food Service Supervisor to oversee daily operations and lead a team of food service workers at the Rising Roll Cafe on the University of Virginia grounds. The Food Service Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, and cleanliness, while maintaining efficient service flow during meal periods at the cafe. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a proactive approach, and a commitment to creating a positive dining experience.

Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of food service workers at the Rising Roll Cafe, including cooks, lead food service workers, and general utility workers.
- Train new employees on proper food handling, preparation, service standards, and safety procedures specific to the cafe's operations.
- Oversee meal service, ensuring food is prepared, displayed, and served according to established recipes, quality standards, and portion control for the Rising Roll Cafe offerings.
- Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies, assist with ordering, and ensure proper storage to minimize waste.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring adherence to all sanitation and HACCP guidelines.
- Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and professionally, resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction within the cafe setting.
- Assist in scheduling staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of dining and kitchen areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Handle cash and complete daily reports as required.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, providing coaching and feedback to staff.
- Ensure compliance with all UVA Dine and Aramark policies and procedures.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in food service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of food service operations, including food preparation, service, and sanitation.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and train a team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and POS systems.
- ServSafe certification required.
