Job Description
UVA Dine is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chef Manager to oversee culinary operations at Fresh Food Company in Newcomb Hall. The Chef Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of food production and service, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong culinary skills, exceptional leadership abilities, and a passion for creating a positive and efficient work environment.

Job Responsibilities
- Manage daily culinary operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation, for a high-volume dining facility.
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of culinary staff, including cooks, food service workers, and student employees.
- Develop and implement menus that are creative, appealing, and meet the diverse needs and preferences of the University of Virginia student population.
- Ensure all food is prepared and served in accordance with established recipes, standards, and health department regulations.
- Monitor food quality, consistency, and presentation, making adjustments as needed to maintain the highest standards.
- Manage food costs, inventory, and ordering to maximize profitability and minimize waste.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Schedule and coordinate staff to ensure efficient and effective food service operations.
- Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with other UVA Dine departments and stakeholders to support overall dining services goals.
- Participate in culinary development, training, and menu planning initiatives.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Chef or Kitchen Manager in a high-volume food service operation, preferably in a university or institutional setting.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques, including a variety of cuisines and dietary needs.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of culinary staff.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Solid understanding of food cost control, inventory management, and procurement.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and food service management software.
- ServSafe certification.
