Title:  Student Nutrition Intern: UNC Carolina Dining Services

Job Description

Carolina Dining Services is seeking Nutrition intern to assist our Culinary Team with educating parents and students.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in nutrition to work within the frameworks of a university and Aramark, an international food service corporation. You will work in-person collaboratively with our Registered Dietitian to help students answer any nutrition and allergy related questions prior to their dining experience at UNC. In addition to the essential functions listed below, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the different aspects of our dining program and help students and parents make educated food choices.

Job Responsibilities

• help to update menus throughout dining halls  

• Conduct audits at each dining location on a regular basis. 

• Nutrition and Allergen analysis conducted on recipes of food items served. 

• Supports dining dietitian to educate students regarding healthy food choices through campus outreach programs. This will involve speaking to students at nutrition-based events on campus. 

• Assist in developing content for nutrition-based food articles for various publications as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous relevant working experience preferred 

• An interest in pursuing work in the nutrition field 

• Ability to maintain a friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward students, clients, and co-workers 

• Ability to maintain a contagious and positive work ethic

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
