Title:  UNC Student Social Media Summer intern: Carolina Dining Services

Job Description

Carolina Dining Services is seeking social media interns to assist our team with educating parents and students about our dining program during summer orientation (June-August.) MUST be a UNC student.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in social media marketing to work within the frameworks of a university and Aramark, an international food service corporation. You will work in-person collaboratively with other team members to assist in creating and curating engaging content that helps incoming students get prepared for their dining experience at UNC. In addition to the essential functions listed below, you will have the opportunity to learn more about different aspects of our dining program and what it takes to make the guest experience invaluable for our students and parents.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

•  Communicate student trends through social media and digital material.

• Assist in creating and curating engaging content (photos, videos, graphics, reels, etc.) for platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
• Monitor engagement and interact with the student community.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm campaign ideas and social media strategies.
• Cover dining events in real time via social media (Instagram Stories, etc.).
• Analyze social media performance metrics and suggest improvements.
• Stay up to date with social media trends, campus events, and dining promotions.
• Assist with additional marketing projects as needed.
• Assist Marketing Team with various marketing events such as meal plan sign-up tables, residential theme dinners, and promotions when needed

Additional Essential Job-Related Requirements:

• Maintain a professional image
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions
• Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs
• Must be able to sit, walk and stand for extended time periods, up to 6 hours
• Assist in other departments as needed
• Completion of any task requested by a supervisor or member of the Aramark management team

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a UNC Student 
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.).
• Strong photography skills with the ability to capture high-quality images for marketing use.
• Creative mindset with an eye for engaging content.
• Intermediate expertise in Capcut, Premier Pro or any additional video editing software
• Beginner to Intermediate expertise in Canva
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Desired Qualifications:

• Flexible availability
• Knowledge of photo editing in programs such as Lightroom
• 1 year of work experience
• Marketing or Studio Art related major, concentration, or minor

 This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
