Title:  UNC Student Graphic Design summer intern: Carolina Dining services

Job Description

Carolina Dining Services is seeking graphic design interns to assist our team with educating parents and students about our dining program during summer orientation (June-August.) MUST be a UNC student

This position provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in graphic design and marketing to work within the frameworks of a university and Aramark, an international food service corporation. You will work in-person to design signage for locations and events that will help improve the dining experience at UNC for incoming students. In addition to the essential functions listed below, you will have the opportunity to learn more about different aspects of our dining program and what it takes to make the guest experience invaluable for our students and parents.

Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by location based on client requirements and business needs.  

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with team members to design signage for locations & events including ingredient labels, directional signage, and Meal Plan advertisements
• Comply with the Carolina Dining Services Brand Guide to create digital & print collateral
• Change out content on existing templates in Canva or Adobe programs.
• Distribute marketing materials to the dining locations and make sure materials posted are up to date
• Communicate student trends through social media and print/digital material.
• Assist in creating Social Media content, including graphics, photos, and videos
• Assist Marketing Team with various marketing events such as meal plan sign-up tables, residential theme dinners, and promotions when needed

Additional Essential Job-Related Requirements:

• Maintain a professional image
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions
• Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs
• Must be able to sit, walk and stand for extended time periods, up to 6 hours
• Assist in other departments as needed
• Completion of any task requested by a supervisor or member of the Aramark management team

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a UNC Student 
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to understand and use Microsoft Office
• Intermediate understanding of Graphic Design and Typography
• Intermediate expertise in Canva and/or Adobe Express
• Beginner to Intermediate expertise in photography
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Desired Qualifications:

• Flexible availability
• Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Acrobat
• Knowledge of video editing in programs such as Capcut or Premier Pro
• 1-2 years of work experience
• Marketing or Studio Art related major, concentration, or minor

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
