Job Description

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a broad range of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks across four charter school campuses. This role ensures that each school remains safe, functional, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is highly skilled, dependable, and capable of managing multiple priorities across multiple sites with minimal supervision.

 

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position is $28.00 to $32.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer.  This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.​

Job Responsibilities

  • Travel to and support maintenance needs across four assigned charter school locations. Operate a service vehicle safely, including travel to school locations as needed.
  • Repair various fixtures and hardware, including doors, windows, minor appliances,  locks, hardware, windowpanes, office furniture, electrical outlets, faucets, and tiles, etc. Replace carpet tiles, hard floor tiles and cove base and classroom furniture.
  • Apply protective and decorative coatings (paint, varnish, lacquer, etc.) to interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, furniture, and structures. Prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, torching, and smoothing before finishing. Install, repair, and maintain drywall, wall textures.
  • Perform minor electrical work including installation and repair of wiring, switch boxes, receptacles, conduits, lighting fixtures, installing light bulbs, ballast and possible replacement of fixtures. 
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs such as replacing washers, unclogging drains, and fixing or replacing broken pipes and flushometers.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance and repair situations at any school location.
  • Ensure safe and efficient use of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Order supplies as needed for maintenance repairs.
  • Competently use CMMS systems for opening, closing, and documenting work orders with proper descriptions.
  • Stay organized and manage time effectively, which is crucial for multi-site responsibilities.
  • Routinely inspect assigned buildings upon visits and perform general maintenance to keep facilities serviceable. Report larger maintenance concerns to the supervisor for appropriate escalation or corrective action.
  • Perform standby duty on a rotating schedule and respond to after-hours and weekend emergency call-backs.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in building maintenance trades
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Able and willing to work in inclement weather
  • Solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems and general carpentry
  • Full range of mobility outdoors, indoors, and in confining areas, using stairs, ramps, or ladders
  • Must adhere to all applicable safety and local regulations, standards, and procedures
  • Must be able to lift or move heavy objects up to 80 lb. and must be able to stand and work for 12 hours in different positions
  • Must have great customer service skills when interacting with customers, co-workers, visitors, etc.
  • Attention to detail is required
