Job Description

The Commissary Manager supports the day-to-day management of on-site commissary operations at assigned correctional facilities. This role focuses on operational execution, customer service, inventory control, staff supervision, and contract compliance while serving as a key point of contact between Union Supply and facility leadership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure commissary orders are delivered accurately and on schedule.

  • Process inmate credits, damages, shortages, and replacements in a timely manner.

  • Address inmate complaints and grievances in accordance with policy.

  • Serve as a liaison between Union Supply and facility leadership.

  • Oversee on-site commissary warehouse operations, including picking, packing, shipping, and receiving.

  • Manage inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and reconciliation.

  • Monitor daily operations and resolve issues impacting service or efficiency.

  • Plan commissary operations around holidays, special events, and schedule changes.

  • Maintain accountability for Union Supply equipment, supplies, and inventory.

  • Ensure compliance with contracts, facility rules, and security requirements.

  • Maintain required correctional facility security clearance.

  • Process on-site employee payroll and complete required administrative reporting.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise commissary staff.

  • Conduct performance reviews and administer corrective action as needed.

  • Perform physical job duties, including lifting and moving product.

  • Travel between assigned client locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in operations, warehouse, retail, commissary, or supply chain environments.

  • Prior experience supervising or leading hourly employees.

  • Strong working knowledge of inventory control, order fulfillment, and basic warehouse operations.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, structured environment.

  • Comfortable working on-site in a correctional facility and able to maintain required security clearance.

  • Proficient with basic computer systems, including inventory, payroll, and reporting tools.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with facility staff, team members, and customers.
