Job Description

Aramark Healthcare+ is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant Director to join our team in Atlanta, GA. This role supports the leadership and daily operation of Environmental Services within a fast-paced acute care hospital environment. The Assistant Director helps drive strong performance across patient room cleaning, discharge cleaning, floor care, operating room cleaning, waste removal, patient flow, quality, and regulatory readiness while partnering closely with hospital leadership and frontline teams.

We are looking for a leader with previous hospital EVS experience who understands HCAHPS, bed turnaround, discharge cleaning, Joint Commission readiness, infection prevention, staffing, and operational KPIs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, direction, and daily oversight of Environmental Services operations, including cleaning, sanitizing, waste removal, discharge cleaning, and overall hospital cleanliness.
  • Lead and develop EVS leaders and frontline employees while ensuring consistent performance, accountability, and engagement across all shifts.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, infection prevention, sanitation, quality, and service excellence.
  • Partner closely with Nursing, Infection Prevention, hospital leadership, and other departments to support patient flow and operational needs.
  • Monitor and improve key EVS performance metrics, including HCAHPS cleanliness scores, bed turnaround times, discharge cleaning times, response times, labor productivity, and quality scores.
  • Support operational goals of bed turnaround under 60 minutes, average discharge cleaning times around 35 minutes, and response times around 15 minutes.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of hospital EVS standards and healthcare regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission readiness.
  • Conduct rounding and quality inspections and use results to identify trends and implement corrective action.
  • Support staffing, scheduling, productivity, labor management, supply usage, inventory, and budget performance.
  • Help ensure department financial targets are achieved through appropriate labor controls, supply management, and operational efficiencies.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide regular updates regarding operational performance, challenges, and improvement initiatives.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop leaders and employees while identifying high-potential talent and supporting succession planning.
  • Lead team meetings and reinforce Aramark operating standards, processes, and expectations.
  • Provide leadership support across multiple shifts as needed based on operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Healthcare Environmental Services experience is required.
  • Previous hospital EVS leadership experience is required.
  • Candidates whose leadership experience is primarily in hospitality, commercial housekeeping, or other non-healthcare industries will not be considered for this position.
  • Associate degree preferred at minimum.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Joint Commission experience strongly preferred.
  • CHESP certification preferred but not required.
  • Active involvement with AHE is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare EVS operations, infection prevention, patient flow, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing large teams and high-volume hospital operations.
  • Experience with HCAHPS, KPIs, bed turnaround, discharge cleaning, and operational performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership, communication, client relationship, and employee development skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment and provide leadership coverage across multiple shifts when needed.
