Job Description
We are in the University of Michigan’s Central Campus which makes for a fun, energetic, and exciting atmosphere to work in. We (Aramark) service thousands of students, faculty, and staff daily at our onsite Starbucks, Seigle Café, Och Fitness Center and Private Hotel (ELCC) locations. The hotel has 104 guest rooms which is available to the MBA Program Students, Executive Education Program Students, Alumni, Parents of Students and School Affiliates only. We have an Executive Dining Room at the lower level of the Hotel in which Aramark’s Award winning, Certified Executive Chefs, Cooks and Wait Staff provides excellent food service that enrich and nourish the lives of every guest creating memorable moments of their dining experience.
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing a proactive sales effort with group business (ie: corporate, leisure market, social, military, educational, religious, fraternal, tour and travel and sports market segments. Contribute to overall revenue generating efforts of the hotel to maximize hotel profitability and maintain customer satisfaction. This includes driving sales, exceeding 100% RGI and achieving budgeted total hotel revenue expectations.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrate excellent selling skills
• Have knowledge of group markets and ability to grow business
• Understand sales process from inquiry to contract
• Actively prospect/solicit repeat and new business
• Participate in team effort with outside calls and prospecting and solicitation
• Meet or exceed booking goals for guest room revenue; meet or exceed budgeted revenue on a quarterly average with the liberty to negotiate as needed on individual functions within established guidelines yet maintaining the overall revenue goals.
• Be responsible for prompt handling of inquiry calls and monitoring the efficient flow of paperwork relative to confirming function details to the clients
• Solicit new and repeat guest room and event business.
• Maintain client base of key accounts and conventions.
• Determine the client and guest's needs.
• Make outside sales calls and phone solicitation calls to obtain business.
• Conduct on-site inspections to book business.
• Assist in evaluating a potential business opportunity for profitability and overall benefit to the Hotel.
• Represent hotel in community affairs and industry related events.
• Maintains accurate sales records, database and reports to provide history, ensure future and current quality service and enhance prospects.
• Achieve budgeted revenues
• Other duties may be assigned.
• General idea of the STR Report and other key industry metrics/analysis
• Demonstrate the ability to build relationships and nurture future/additional business
Qualifications
A professional demeanor, a warm and welcoming personality, and ability to engage easily and actively connect with others is required.
• Must be genuine and comfortable conversing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and at all organizational levels.
• Speak with others using clear and professional language.
• Ability to gain details important to group and communicate to hotel operations team
• Two or more years of hotel experience required.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
