Title:  Lead Steward - Anaheim Convention Center - Catering

Job Description

The Lead Steward is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of our front and back of house facilities.  The individual will be responsible for oversight or delegation of responsibilities for additional utility workers. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

This role takes place in an events-based setting, which means that schedules and hours will vary. This role is a union position under Unite Here 11. Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the union, new hires in this role start at 80% of the negotiated pay rate. After 20 shifts worked, the employee will be raised to 90% of the negotiated pay rate. After 40 shifts worked (20 at 80%, 20 at 90%), the employee will be raised to 100% of the negotiated pay rate. The wage listed on this job posting is the starting wage of 80%.

Long Description

COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $22.87 to $22.87. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversees sanitation and cleanliness of dish room and all workstations 
• Oversees removal and proper disposal of waste in the location (including recycling) 
• Oversees dish room to ensure timely and appropriate sanitation and storage of dishware and utensils 
• Maintains organization, storage, and labeling of chemical products 
• Maintain storage areas so that inventory is sequenced, and products are easily accessible 
• Trains and guides utility staff on job duties and proper safety and sanitation procedures
• Assists out in the front of the house when needed
• Maintains excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Keeps accurate Temperature logs. 
• Ensure completion of any task as delegated by the Executive Steward, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef or Manager 
• Other duties as assigned by Leads and/or Management

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in a similar role 
• Ability to exercise considerable judgment based on previous experience to solve problems 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• May act as an informal resource for those with less experience 
• Required to gain an extensive knowledge of the proper use and cleaning techniques for kitchen equipment including but not limited to steamers, ovens, mixers, grills, and dishwashing equipment
• Demonstrates thorough understanding of basic sanitation procedures
• Understanding of basic kitchen sanitation 
• Basic Knowledge of HAACP guidelines required 
• Be familiar with all kitchen equipment, to include:  dishwashers, steamers, ovens, grills, fryers, flat tops, stove tops, slicers, knives, and other small wares 
• 1-year prior experience working in a team environment  
• Must be 18 years or older 
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced quick service, convention center, restaurant, or other foodservice environment helpful 
• Ability to work an event-based schedule which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays  
   

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
