Are you a confident, people focused leader who thrives on accountability, pace and impact? We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to take full ownership of our operation at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Strensall, leading a large and diverse team and driving performance across all areas of the business.


This is a hands on leadership role for someone who enjoys being visible, setting clear direction, and creating a positive, high performing culture.

 

The Role
As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day to day leadership and operational performance of the business, managing over 20 direct reports and ensuring service, standards and results are delivered consistently.


You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to translate strategy into action, while empowering your management team to perform at their best.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a large team of direct reports
  • Maintain and develop client relationships
  • Facilitate and support new business / retention activities, leading appropriate contract negotiations with client to achieve contract sign off.
  • Full operational oversight, ensuring targets, budgets and KPIs are met
  • Creating a strong, inclusive and performance driven culture
  • Managing change, continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures and regulations
  • Acting as the senior point of contact for performance, people and delivery

About You:

You’ll be an experienced manager with a proven track record of leading sizeable teams in a fast paced environment. You’re confident making decisions, comfortable being accountable, and skilled at balancing strategic priorities with day to day operational leadership.

 

You’ll bring:
•    Experience in a senior management or General Manager role (or equivalent)
•    Proven experience managing large teams (20+ direct reports)
•    Strong people leadership and communication skills
•    A results driven mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement
•    Understanding of catering finances such as costing, production, yields, wastage, as well as employee schedules and payroll
•    The ability to inspire trust, drive engagement and manage performance effectively
