Title: Relief Chef

Aramark UK is recruiting for a Birmingham-based Relief Chef Supervisor to work in three judicial contracts within the Midlands. The successful applicant will be based at a Birmingham prison and will be expected to travel to Rugby and Wolverhampton when required. There will also be a degree of travel to our other sites across the UK so we are looking someone who is comfortable with UK-wide travel.
The individual must have a good level of supervision and will be working with both civilian and prisoner catering staff.
The role is permanent and is 40 hours per week, 5 over 7. The earliest start would be 6.30am and the latest finish would be 6.45pm.
This role requires a full vetting check prior to starting, including an Enhanced DBS.

A day in the life of a Relief Chef:
- Effective and efficient food production in line with recipe sheets
- Full knowledge of all menu items served
- Management of production to ensure minimal wastage
- Maintenance of food levels throughout all service periods
- Maintenance of food quality and brand standards
- Ensuring the maintenance of high hygiene and health and safety standards in line with Aramark requirements and identify any anomalies and incidents
- Capturing and recording all volumes consumed and overproduction
- Assisting in the compilation of all shift opening and closing checklists
- Discussing ideas or improvements with line manager
- Act as a trainer/ coach for new team members to learn procedures and standards for all kitchen tasks
- Undertake relevant training as required
- In addition to the above, Chefs may occasionally be required to undertake ad hoc back of house and front of house duties in line with business requirements
You’ll be set up for success if you have:
Required:
- NVQ Level 2 Culinary or equivalent
- Food hygiene certificate – Level 2
- Previous experience in a food production role within catering or retail
- Good level of spoken English
- Full UK, clean driving licence & access to own vehicle
