Aramark UK is looking to hire an experienced and dedicated Sous Chef to join the fantastic team at one of our fabulous education sites; Uppingham School, Rutland.
This is an exciting, permanent & full time opportunity reporting to the Head Chef & Group Executive Chef on site. The role will assume responsibility for all food production across breakfast, lunch & dinner service from one main kitchen You will also support with any planned ad hoc hospitality requirements throughout the year.
Uppingham – Uppingham School is an Independent School that has numerous locations throughout the town. There are fifteen boarding houses in total & two Hub kitchens across the site, some houses have in house Chef’s. Hub Kitchen’s prepare food for six houses & it is then delivered to various houses. The required role would be based in the HUB Kitchen’s.

A day in the life of a Sous Chef:
- Effective & efficient food production in line with recipe sheets
- Cooking & prepping food for students each day. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, along with any other ad hoc requirements
- Full knowledge of all menu items served
- Management of production to ensure minimal wastage
- Maintenance of food levels throughout all service periods
- Maintenance of food quality and brand standards
- Ensuring the maintenance of high hygiene and health and safety standards in line with Aramark requirements and identify any anomalies and incidents
- Capturing and recording all volumes consumed and overproduction
- A good knowledge level of Allergens & Natasha’s law
- Assisting in the compilation of all shift opening and closing checklists
- Discussing ideas or improvements with line manager
- Act as a trainer/ coach for new team members to learn procedures and standards for all kitchen tasks.
- Undertake relevant training as required
- In addition to the above, Chefs may occasionally be required to undertake ad hoc back of house and front of house duties in line with business requirements.
You'll be set up for success if you have:
- Experience operating as a Chef
- Organised with a hands on ability and strong work ethic
- Passion for people and food
- A full UK driving licence
