Aramark UK is looking to hire an experienced and dedicated Sous Chef to join the fantastic team at one of our fabulous education sites; Uppingham School, Rutland.

This is an exciting, permanent & full-time opportunity reporting to the Head Chef & Group Executive Chef on site. The role will assume responsibility for all food production across breakfast, lunch & dinner service from one main kitchen You will also support with any planned ad hoc hospitality requirements throughout the year.

Uppingham – Uppingham School is an Independent School that has numerous locations throughout the town. There are fifteen boarding houses in total & two Hub kitchens across the site, some houses have in house Chef’s. Hub Kitchen’s prepare food for six houses & it is then delivered to various houses. The required role would be based in the HUB Kitchen’s.

A day in the life of a Commis Chef:

  • Preparing & cooking meals for pupils Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in either a small hub kitchen or a boarding house kitchen.
  • Supporting with food orders
  • Check all food is compliant with Allergens and Natasha’s law.
  • Following recipe cards to prepare, cook and serve a range of meals
  • Completing daily paperwork to cover due diligence
  • Assisting with deliveries & stock checks
  • Placing food orders & maintaining kitchen records
  • Checking, probing and signing of all food deliveries
  • To monitor and record temperatures of fridges, freezers, hot cabinets and serveries.
  • Assisting in daily and weekly kitchen deep cleans
  • Full knowledge of all menu items served

 

You'll be set up for success if you have:

  • Experience operating as a Commis Chef or above
  • Organised with a hands-on ability and strong work ethic
  • Passion for people and food 
  • A full UK driving licence
