We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced House boarding chef working in conjunction with the Group Executive Chef to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of Hospitality food at this independent school based in Uppingham.

Uppingham – Uppingham School is an Independent School that has numerous locations throughout the town. There are 15 boarding houses in total & 2 Hub kitchens across the site, some houses have in house Chef’s. The required role would be based in the single house.

A day in the life of a Boarding House Chef:

  • Take responsibility for the overall kitchen operation feeding 75 student per day
  • Oversee the general production of breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • To maintain food hygiene, service & presentation to a high standard
  • Support with managing the P&L and all associated financials
  • Deliver first class food throughout service
  • Manage all associated administration
  • To manage and champion daily and weekly cleaning schedules
  • Ensure compliance of all processes and procedures, including daily and weekly checklists and cleaning schedules
  • You will work a variety of shifts, including weekend work
  • Build strong relationships with house team and pupils

 

You'll be set up for success if you have:

  • Proven experience in a role as Chef, being able to demonstrate a track record of catering for large numbers but at the same time making each event individual.
  • Have a ‘big personality’. Great people skills and be able to lead, develop, train and inspire your team.
  • Have a real passion for food and customer service along with bags of enthusiasm.
  • Food Innovation and development is essential along with being up to date with current food trends
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
