Chef – Boarding House | Uppingham School, Rutland
Location: Uppingham, LE15 9QE
Salary: £28,700 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 41.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7 (including weekends)

Aramark UK is currently seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our dedicated team at Uppingham School, a leading independent school in Rutland. Based in one of the school’s 15 boarding houses, you'll oversee daily kitchen operations, working closely with the Group Executive Chef to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals for students.

Your Day-to-Day as a Boarding House Chef:

  • Take full ownership of daily kitchen operations, providing meals for around 75–80 students across breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Ensure food quality, hygiene, and presentation are maintained to a consistently high standard
  • Lead and support your kitchen team, providing guidance and promoting a positive, can-do culture
  • Manage ordering, deliveries, and stock rotation while completing necessary admin and compliance tasks
  • Maintain strict food safety standards and follow scheduled cleaning routines
  • Work a variety of shifts as part of a 7-day rota, including weekends

 

You’ll Be Set Up for Success If You Have:

  • The legal right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for the past 5 years (for enhanced DBS and security vetting)
  • Relevant culinary qualifications and/or proven experience as a Chef in a similar high-volume setting
  • Experience leading or supervising a kitchen team
  • A flair for delivering consistently great food while keeping the experience fresh and engaging
  • Strong people skills – a ‘big personality’ who can motivate, train, and inspire their team
