Catering Assistant – Temporary Position

Location: Withington Girls’ School, Fallowfield, Manchester, M14 6BL
Contract Type: Temporary (until 19th December 2025, with potential to be extended or made permanent)
Hours: 25 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 11:00am – 4:00pm (Term Time Only – 36 Weeks)
Salary: £12.21 per hour / £12,168.49 per annum (including holiday pay)
We are currently recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our friendly catering team at Withington Girls’ School. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a professional, supportive environment during school term time, with a great work-life balance.
In this hands-on role, you’ll play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of kitchen operations and maintaining high hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pot wash duties, including cleaning dishes, pans, and utensils
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors and surfaces (brushing, mopping, sanitising)
- Remove kitchen waste and recycling in a timely manner
- Assist with the laundry of cleaning cloths and kitchen linens
- Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to support daily service
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a similar catering or cleaning role is desirable but not essential
- A positive attitude, good attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
