Come and join us at Waltham Forest College as a Chef Manager. An excellent opportunity has arisen to be based at on site as a Chef Manager on a full time (40 hours) basis. As Chef Manager, you will have a strong culinary background and be able to lead the team to success. You will be responsible for overseeing the food outlets on site to include a Cafe and a Costa outlet. 

This is a excellent opportunity and a role in which someone can exceed their potential and truly make a difference.

We require an enhanced DBS to be successful in this role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day kitchen operations to deliver efficient, timely, and high‑quality food production.
  • Motivate, train, and support kitchen teams to uphold exceptional service and operational standards.
  • Oversee preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet brand, allergen, and dietary‑requirement standards
  • Maintain consistency across taste, presentation, and portion control to ensure a reliable guest experience.
  • Uphold food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards, identifying and addressing issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate kitchen documentation, including temperature checks, cleaning records, and audit findings.
  • Manage budgets, food costs, and labour spend to meet financial targets.
  • Control stock levels, ensure effective rotation, minimise waste, and source high‑quality, cost‑efficient ingredients.
  • Serve as the primary contact for client and customer queries, ensuring timely and professional responses.
  • Gather and act on feedback to improve menus and service, including support for events and special dietary needs.

 

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, or similar leadership role.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Food Hygiene Level 3 (or higher) certification preferred.
