Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Weekend Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team in Galway, Ireland. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency of our kitchen operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment whilst developing your skills in food service support. Your dedication to maintaining high standards will directly contribute to the smooth running of our kitchen and the satisfaction of our customers.

• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas, including work surfaces, equipment, and storage facilities in accordance with established protocols and health and safety regulations - Assist kitchen staff with food preparation tasks, including peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients as directed - Remove and dispose of waste and recyclable materials in compliance with environmental and health and safety standards
• Perform general kitchen cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitising work surfaces and equipment to the highest standards - Restock supplies and ensure all necessary items are readily available to support kitchen operations - Maintain consistent awareness of food safety and hygiene standards at all times - Work efficiently and collaboratively during peak service times to support the overall kitchen operation
• Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to management promptly - Follow all health, safety, and food handling procedures established by the organisation - Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when priorities change during service

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar hospitality support role (desirable) - Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards - Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment - Physical stamina and capability to stand for extended periods - Excellent organisational and time-keeping skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards - Strong teamwork and people skills with the ability to communicate effectively - Reliability and punctuality, with confirmed availability for weekend shifts - Willingness to follow instructions and adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude - Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning procedures (desirable) - Health and Safety awareness and commitment to compliance - Problem-solving mindset and ability to work both independently and collaboratively - Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic working environment
