Job Description

We are currently seeking a passionate and reliable Deli Chef to join our team at the retail café in Portiuncula Hospital. This role is central to delivering high-quality, freshly prepared food to staff, visitors, and patients in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on food quality, presentation, hygiene, and customer service, ensuring a consistent and positive dining experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of fresh deli items including sandwiches, salads, hot food, and daily specials
• Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP compliance)
• Monitor food stock levels, rotation, and minimise waste
• Ensure the deli area is clean, organised, and fully stocked at all times
• Deliver friendly and efficient customer service in a busy café setting
• Follow all hospital guidelines relating to food safety and infection control
• Support the wider café and retail team as required

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a deli, café, or food service environment is essential
• Strong knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A positive, customer-focused attitude
• Flexibility with working hours, including early mornings and weekends
