Job Description

We are seeking a friendly and professional Catering Assistant and Barista to join our dynamic team in Galway, Ireland. In this role, you will be at the heart of our catering operation, delivering exceptional service to our customers whilst maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and presentation. You will work in a fast-paced environment, combining your barista expertise with catering support duties to ensure a seamless customer experience. • Prepare and serve high-quality beverages, including espresso-based drinks, with attention to detail and consistency • Assist with food preparation, plating, and presentation in accordance with organisational standards

  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service, taking orders and responding to customer enquiries with professionalism • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the catering area, including equipment and workstations • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems accurately and handle cash transactions securely
  • Support the catering team during service periods, including setup, service, and breakdown of events • Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to management • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations and timely service delivery • Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times • Contribute to a positive team environment through reliable attendance and professional conduct

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a barista or coffee preparation role • Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or customer-facing service environments • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, pressurised environment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills • Proficiency with POS systems and basic IT skills • Cash handling experience and numeracy skills • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights • Desirable: Food hygiene certification or equivalent qualification • Desirable: Advanced barista techniques, such as latte art • Desirable: Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen awareness • Desirable: Multilingual abilities
